SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -
The Savannah
branch of the NAACP held their 2013 installation ceremony Sunday.
Folks
gathered at the St. Philip AME church to support the new officers and executive
committee of the Savannah branch, who will serve for the next two year term.
Al Scott was
named president of the chapter. the group says that are ready to get 2013 underway
and to look at the serious issues ahead of them.
"We are
concerned about crime, we are concerned about gun violence, we are concerned
about most of the issues that are facing this community and this country and
we'll be working to try to address these issues," said Richard Shinhoster,
First Vice President of the Savannah chapter of the NAACP
Folks in the
community were invited to come to today's event to celebrate all that has been
accomplished through the NAACP here in Savannah
"We are
just happy to see the support that we have for the NAACP and we just believe
that this is evidence of the work that we have done over the years."
