Two men were arrested in connection with a metal theft Jan. 26 on T.E. Glisson Road.
A resident of T.E. Glisson Road off of US 80 E in Brooklet reported a that metal items were stolen from his home in the 400 block of T.E. Glisson Road.
On Jan. 26, a resident living in the 500 block of T. E. Glisson Road caught two males near a pile of his scrap metal. The resident got the tag number on the suspects' truck and called the Bulloch County Sheriff's Office. Deputies were pulled over the truck U.S. 80 east.
The driver Timmy Howard, 34, of Eden, ran and the passenger John Talley, 30, of Bloomingdale, was taken into custody without incident, according to the sheriff's office. Howard was later found and arrested. Their truck contained various metal items of unknown origin, according to the sheriff's office.
Howard and Talley are charged with criminal attempt to commit theft by taking in connection with the theft in the 500 block of T.E. Glisson Rd. Howard is also charged with traffic offenses and obstruction for running.
An investigation into whether they're responsible for the Jan. 25 theft case on T.E. Glisson Road continues, according to the BCSO.
Deputies are trying to find the owners of the stolen metal items recovered from the truck.
