Man dies in Bluffton camper fire

BLUFFTON, SC (WTOC) -

The Beaufort Co. Sheriff's Office and investigators from the SC State Law Enforcement Division are on the scene of a fire that took place in a camper off of Alljoy Rd. in Bluffton Monday afternoon.

Emergency personnel responded just after 12 p.m. It was reported that a camper was on a fire and a person was believed to still be inside. The camper, which was parked behind a home, was occupied by a person related to the homeowner.

The body of John Porizo, 55, of Bluffton, was found inside of the camper after the fire was under control. 

The fire was reported by the homeowner. The cause and source of the fire has not been determined yet. 

Accoroding to investigators, there is no evidence of foul play suggesting the fire was intentionally set. Preliminary autopsy results indicate the victim died of asphyxiation due to smoke inhalation.
