STATESBORO, GA (WTOC) -

A man and woman from Statesboro are charged in connection with a metal theft from the Georgia Forestry Commission.

On Jan. 26, deputies were summoned to the area behind the Georgia Forestry Commission office on US 301 north in Statesboro for a metal theft in progress.

The caller pointed deputies toward Cassandra Huggins, 30, and Duane Deal, 50, both of the Mill Creek Estates mobile home park in Statesboro, according to the Bulloch County Sheriff's Office. They said Huggins and Deal were removing metal from property owned by the Georgia Forestry Commission.

Huggins and Deal were arrested and charged with theft by taking and criminal trespass.

Deal also had a probation violation warrant issued on him.
