Pastor Freddie Hebron, long-time missionary and minister at the Christian Revival Center, passed away early Monday morning.
WTOC covered the pastor for more than 20 years as he traveled from Savannah to Haiti on missionary trips.
Hebron was in Haiti three years ago during the massive earthquake and his family and church members feared he had been killed then. He returned home weeks later and continued his work at the church and helping the people he loved so much.
Hebron had just returned from Haiti on Saturday and preached on Sunday.
Family members say he had not been sick but complained about not feeling well Sunday night, turned in early and passed away in his sleep.
A memorial services for Hebron will be held at 11 a.m. Feb. 2 at the Christian Revival Center. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Christian Revival Center Mission to Haiti, 2020 Bull St., Savannah, GA, 31419.
