ATLANTA (CBS46) -

Representatives from DeKalb County, Fulton County and the city of Atlanta joined forces overnight to ensure the city's homeless are accounted for.

The Metro Atlanta Tri-Jurisdictional Collaborative on Homelessness set out early Tuesday to count the homeless both in city shelters and in outdoor areas.

Veterans Administration Assistant Secretary Jose Riojas assisted in searching area parks, encampments and under bridges between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m.

Volunteers met at the Crossroads Community Ministry on Courtland Street just before midnight for training and organization before setting out on the overnight mission.
