Continuity of Operations planning meeting under way
Continuity of Operations Plan meeting involves 20 Chatham County departments.
CHATHAM CO., GA (WTOC) -
The Chatham Emergency Management Agency and 20 other county departments will are conducting a Continuity of Operations Plan tabletop exercise Tuesday.
The first session ran from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. and the second session runs from 1-4 p.m. at the Chatham County Commission Room at 124 Bull St.
The group is working on its Continuity of Operations Plan so if there ever is a disaster agencies and departments can know how to put their offices back together. Over the past few months, CEMA has worked closely with Hagerty Consulting to design the exercise, which will give county departments an opportunity to discuss their plans in order to determine what will work and where they can improve, according to CEMA.
"They are not difficult plans but they are something that needs to be done now while the sun is shining, not when it starts to rain," said Clayton Scott, CEMA director.
Some of the participating departments include CEMA, Chatham County Attorney's Office, County Manager's Officer, Mosquito Control, Sheriff's Office, Tax Commissioner's Officer, and Public Works.
