Catholic schools across America are continuing to celebrate Catholic School Week. On Tuesday, WTOC stopped by St. James Catholic School, where one class was getting ready to write letters to Sandy Hook victims and troops overseas. For one student in the class, sending letters to deployed soldiers is close to home. Her dad was deployed in December.
"I think it helps them and they should be happy reading the letters. The soldiers should read the letters and be happy that they have them. When they come back, they can meet the person who wrote it for real," said Alyssa Bianchi, daughter of deployed soldier.
Some of the other activities included family bingo and a spelling bee.
