SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -
The city of Savannah has opened all
of the Volunteer
Income Tax Assistance sites on Wednesday to help people with preparing their federal and state income taxes.
The city is working with the
Chatham Savannah Asset Development Coalition.
The VITA program offers the free tax
preparation by IRS trained volunteers for residents and families with incomes
of less than $57,000.
Bring
these items with when getting tax prep help:
- Valid
photo ID
- Valid
Social Security cards for all dependents
- All
W-2s and other income information including unemployment for 2012
- Forms
1098 & 1099 (if applicable)
- All
child care coverage information & education expenses
- Checking
& savings account information for direct deposit
