A wind advisory is in effect until 1 a.m. Thursday. Winds south 20 to 30 mph are expected and gusts could reach 40 mph, according to the National Weather Service.

A wind advisory means that winds of 30 mph are expected. Winds this strong can make driving difficult for high-profile vehicles.

Strong winds will make travel hazardous, especially on bridges and overpasses. Isolated downed trees and power lines are possible.

The wind advisory includes these counties in the WTOC viewing area: Bryan, Chatham, Effingham, Liberty, Bulloch, Screven, Candler, Evans, Tattnall, Toombs, Appling, Bacon, Wayne, Long, McIntosh, Ware. It also includes these SC counties in the WTOC viewing area: Hampton, Jasper, Beaufort.
