Black Diamonds hold color casing ceremony

Hundreds of Third Infantry soldiers are heading to Afghanistan. The 92nd Engineer Battalion Black Diamonds cased their colors during a ceremony Thursday morning on Cottrell Field at Fort Stewart. The U.S. Army tradition indicates the time to leave is near. The soldiers are expected to be deployed for nine months.

"For the families it is another opportunity for them to see us finally in formation after all the months of training and preparation that we are now ready to go. We have made it official by casing the colors, getting ready to board the aircraft," said Lt. Col. Kenneth Boggs, 92nd Engineer Battalion commander.

The battalion was deployed to Afghanistan in 2010 and 2011.
