SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Chatham Steel is building a healthy environment for their employees. The corporate office in Savannah is getting a $1,000 fitness grant from Subway. The grants also came with free lunch on Friday. 100 six inch subs were given to the employees.

Chatham Steel has chosen to use the money to build an outdoor fitness center and donate the rest to the West Broad Street YMCA to help them get new equipment.

"It means a lot to me to see that my employees are healthy. I know over the years, many folks have been saved from major health issues by catching them early, and at the same time, it became financially rewarding for both the employees and the company," said Bert Tenenbam, Chatham Steel president.

Chatham Steel also received the 2012 Leadership Award for the National Corporate Health and Wellness Association in October for their fitness initiatives.
