Smithsonian representative speaks at AASU

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

On Monday, Armstrong Atlantic State University welcomed John Franklin to speak on the new Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture.

Franklin specializes in history and traditions of African communities.

"The premise is that you can't understand American history without understanding the role of African Americans shaping that role," said Franklin.

Franklin hopes his speech will inspire students to look into different job opportunities within the Smithsonian museums.
