A homicide investigation continues in the Lowcountry. State law enforcement officials say John Swinton, 64, was found shot to death inside his house on Deloss Point Rd. in Ridgeland on Feb. 1.
They say his wife made the discovery but they are not releasing much information. Swinton was a Vietnam veteran and a well known mechanic.
"The loss of the pillar of the family, the patriarch, somebody who was important to the community," said Damien Swinton. "The loss of life for anyone is going to be traumatic. Just trying to stay strong for the family. As the youngest have to remain calm and collective as possible."
Swinton's funeral will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Ridgeland Baptist Center.
