About 130 Savannah-Chatham Public School students received their diplomas Tuesday during the mid-year graduation ceremony at Savannah Arts Academy. The event was for students who missed the June 2012 graduation ceremony.
"I finally passed the test so if is very important to me. I though about giving up but my family pushed me harder to graduate and walk across the stage," said Kierra Glover, graduate.
When it comes to determining state graduation rates, students who graduated Tuesday will not be counted. Despite the numbers, superintendent Dr. Thomas Lockamy says our schools are making slow but steady gains.
