Forrest Gump author speaks at Georgia History Festival

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The Georgia History Festival continued Tuesday night with a lecture by Winston Groom, the best-selling author of Forrest Gump.

Groom discussed the featured historical figure, John C. Fremont, who was the pathfinder of the west and the first Republican presidential candidate. Fremont is also the focus of some of Groom's recent works.

The keynote event took place at Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church. A book signing followed the lecture.
