CHATHAM CO., GA (WTOC) -
Severe Weather Awareness Week kicked off Feb. 4 with Family Preparedness Day/NOAA Weather Radio.
Each day of the week is dealing with a different severe weather topic, according to the Chatham Emergency Management Agency:
At 9 a.m. Wednesday, CEMA will be conducting its monthly test of the outdoor warning sirens around Chatham County as part of Tornado Safety Day. The siren will not go off at noon during the test. There are 60 sirens around Chatham County, which cover 95 percent of the county.
Georgia Emergency Management Agency runs the Ready Georgia campaign, which is a resource help residents make an emergency supply kit, develop a communications plan and stay informed of potential threats. GEMA and the National Weather Service encourages residents to buy a NOAA weather radio and identify an emergency family meeting place.
