ATLANTA (WTOC) -
A Hinesville man who recently retired from the U.S. Army won a $1
million prize in a Georgia Lottery scratch-off card game.
Alexander Rivera, 44, won the top prize in the game Georgia Lottery
Black, according to the Georgia Lottery. He retired five months ago from the
U.S. Army.
On Tuesday, Georgia Lottery representatives presented Rivera with an
oversized check at Parker's at 59 Old Sunbury Road in Hinesville, where he
bought the winning ticket.
"I was picking up my son from school, and I stopped for a ticket," he said
in a statement. "I was waiting in the parking lot for my son when I scratched
it, and there it was. I couldn't believe it."
Rivera, a father of two, served in the military for 25 years and
anticipates his time off with family.
