EFFINGHAM CO., GA (WTOC) -
Mitchell Johnson, 47, of Guyton, a bicyclist who was struck by a hit-and-run driver in December in Effingham County, has died.
Johnson was riding on Hodgeville Rd. near Forest Haven Rd. on Dec. 9 when he was hit from behind by an unknown vehicle.
A passerby say the wreck bicycle and Johnson lying on the side of the rod.
Johnson was transported to Memorial University Medical Center with life threatening injuries. He died on Feb. 1 from those injuries.
Police have identified a person of interest but no charges have been filed.
Georgia State Patrol's specialized collision and reconstruction team are continuing to investigate the accident.
