A portion of I-95 in Jasper County was shut down today. It all started around 7am in Hardeeville, after a tractor-trailer carrying chemicals was involved in an accident. At this point we do know at least one person is confirmed dead.
As of noon, a the northbound lanes had reopened, but southbound from Exit 8 to Exit 18 remained closed, with traffic being rerouted to Highway 17.

The Hilton Head Island haz-mat team along with the Hardeeville Fire Department and other local law enforcement responded, discovering it was not a harmful chemical--acetone--like they had thought.
