Former Rep. Ann Purcell nominated to DOT board

Former Georgia Rep. Ann Purcell, of Rincon is nominated to the DOT board.

ATLANTA (WTOC) -

Former Georgia Rep. Ann Purcell is taking on a new role.

The Rincon resident has been nominated to take over the vacant District 1 seat on the state transportation board.

Members of the house and senate voted her in without opposition after Burton Carter of Waycross who spent 34 years working for Georgia Dept. of Transportation but withdrew his name before the voting.

The seat became vacant when redistricting pushed former representative Hay Shaw into the 8th District. Boting on the 5^th, 6th and 13th Districts take place Thursday.
