PEMBROKE, GA (WTOC) -

Georgia State Patrol troopers are investigating a crash that left a kindergartener in critical condition Thursday.

Troopers say 5 year old KeShawn Odum was on life support late at Memorial Thursday night.

Troopers say the boy was getting off a school bus when he was struck by a pickup truck on Highway 119 in Pembroke.

Investigators say the bus had the blinking stop sign deployed, but the truck did not stop.

"I know for sure everyone is saying the boy is really bad off. The bus driver is sitting up there and still scared and shaken up," neighbor Auneisha Williams said.

Williams says her brothers and sisters were on the bus and very shaken up.

Other parents and grandparents arrived on the scene very concerned.

"I'm concerned about the high school students when they get out of school and start speeding," Patricia Fleming said.

Fleming says her granddaughter is in the same class as the victim.

"I'm so sorry that this happened to him. He is a friend of hers and I pray to God he is going to be okay," Fleming said.

Troopers say charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
