St. Joseph's/Candler is offering a brand new service for African American men. Free health screenings are going to be offered all over the city every month. Since African American men are more prone to some serious diseases, they want to catch any problems early. The screenings will be for hypertension, diabetes, and prostate cancer.
In an effort to get more people involved they are trying a father-son tactic. "You know you need to stay healthy, but you're not going to do it by yourself, but if you look into your son's eyes and know he wants you to be around, your going to do it for him," said the hospital's CEO Paul Hinchey.
St. Joseph's/Candler is partnering with the 100 Black Men of Savannah for these special screenings. As soon as they determine a place a time for the screenings, we'll let you know.
