Almost a dozen guns and other valuables were taken from a home in Pembroke.
There are no leads as to who did this or why, and now items that have been in the family for nearly half a century may be long gone.
Joey Ellis and his wife came home earlier this week to find a burglar had pried open their front door.
"She noticed all of our change, our television was gone, her laptop and they stole 11 guns," said Ellis. "They stole all of our guns. Two of my guns, one is 40 years old and one is 30, One of the guns is my wife's and it was actually probably 50 years old."
The couple lives right off Ga. Hwy 119 in Pembroke but the thieves were able to ransack the home in broad daylight without ever being noticed.
"This is a big deal," said Ellis. "This is 11 guns missing that can threaten peoples lives. They are a part of my wife's family history and now they are gone."
Ellis has visited several pawn shops to see if his cherished items may have been cashed in, but has had no success.
"They can keep most guns, the jewelry, the TV but the guns is what is bothering us the most because that is a family heirloom that went down from her family generation and my side of the family. They also stole my wife's class ring. That is a once in a lifetime thing."
Now he feels unsafe in his own home and plans on installing a security system to prevent this from happening again.
"Don't know if I will ever get them back," said Ellis. "My wife is not safe anymore. It just feels like you're not safe if you cant leave your guns at your house. There is just an emptiness."
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Bryan Co. Sheriff's Office immediately.
