SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -
The Coastal Heritage Society reached a milestone Saturday.
Jennifer and Khoa Nguyen received their new membership cards as the official 1,000th member family of The Coastal Heritage Society inside the Savannah Children's Museum.
Membership Coordinator Rachael Smith says over the past 20 years, the Coastal Heritage Society has averaged 360 members, but has seen rapid growth over the past eight month since the addition of the Savannah Children's Museum, which opened June, 2012. "This is the most we've ever had."
The 1,000 Member Celebration featured snacks, provided by a generous donation from Gigi's Cupcakes, and activities for the kids, as well as a "Name Our Frog" contest.
During the celebration, the museum started accepting nominations to name the unnamed tree frog it has been featuring since it opened. Smith and Director of Young Child Programs, Liz Comparetto, will go through the names and announce the winner on their Savannah Children's Museum's Facebook page.
