The Chatham County Sheriff's Office Explorer Post 876 competed in the 2013 national Winterfest Exploring and Venturing competition in Gatlinburg, Tennessee Saturday.
Fourteen explorers who represent 8 local, public and private high schools competed in four law enforcement events, which included: Cell Extraction, Active Shooter, Unknown Trouble and Uniform Inspection.
The CCSO Explorer Post is made up of young men and women between the ages of 14 and 20. They attend regular meetings to learn about law enforcement, local government, leadership, character development and how to be role models for the youth in the community. The Explorers joined nearly 3,000 other participants from 12 states at the annual competition.
