Pooler and Savannah-Chatham Metro police were out directing traffic on Dean Forest Road early Monday morning after a massive tree limb fell into the roadway.
The limb fell around 5 a.m. Monday and had 3 lanes on Dean Forest Rd. blocked right near Beasley Rd.
Officials tell WTOC that a nearby resident heard a cracking sound, went outside to see what had happened and saw a tree had fallen into the road. The resident then called police.
No injuries were reported.
The limb was lying across both of the southbound lanes on Dean Forest Rd. The northbound lane remained clear so Pooler and Metro police turned it into two-way traffic and directed drivers for several hours in the area.
Crews had about 3 to 4 chainsaws going at the same time to try and quickly clear the tree off of the road. It took them a few hours to clear the road.
All of Dean Forest Road is now back open to traffic.
There is no word on what caused the limb to fall at this time.
