Man robbed by group near Bluffton apartment complex

BLUFFTON, SC (WTOC) -

The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is investigating a strong arm robbery that occurred Sunday night in Bluffton.

Deputies responded after 7 p.m. to the area of Simmons Cay apartments on a report of a robbery. A 29-year-old man told deputies he had been jumped by a group of unknown black males.

The victim said that reported that he and a friend were hanging out, drinking beers in the woods next to Simmons Cay apartments when a group of five black males approached them, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

A suspect asked the victim for money. When he told him he didn't have any, the suspect picked up a concrete block and threw it at the victim, knocking him to the ground, according to BCSO.

The victim was hit with a belt several times. The suspects took an undisclosed amount of cash was taken from him and took off in several directions.

The victim suffered minor injuries that didn't require medical attention. The victim's friend was unharmed during the incident. Anyone with information can contact either Investigator Cpl. B.
