HHI officials report fewer bike accidents in 2012

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WTOC) -

There are more bikes on Hilton Head Island but the number of wrecks involving them are down.

In 2012, there were 16 bike wrecks on the island, down from 26 the year before. There are also plans to further improve safety for cyclists.

By the end of next year, five more bike paths totaling three miles will be built. There will also be 30 new information kiosks to help riders find their way around the island.
