Family of Sandfly murder victim holds crime meeting

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Wesley Franklin's parents hosted a community crime meeting Monday night. Franklin was shot and killed in Sandfly in June. His parents feel someone has to know something. Several city leaders, law enforcement officers and families of other crime victims were at the meeting.

"It brought tears to my eyes thinking about the people here. I didn't even know their crimes hadn't been solved either. That is something that bothers me," said Delane Reese High, mother of Wesley Franklin.

"It saddens me that it is going on in our community but I see people getting together and I hear their frustration that they want to make a difference. I think that is actually the good part about it. I think law enforcement is here because they want to as well. We have a lot of changes to make and hopefully we can make a difference," said Meg Heap, Chatham County District Attorney.

Anyone with information on Franklin's murder is asked to call police or Crimestoppers. Several Sandfly businesses and Savannah businessman O.C. Welch are offering rewards.
