Savannah's Georgia Day Parade Tuesday was canceled because of weather but that didn't stop some Savannah-Chatham schools from celebrating.
Hesse Elementary held their own parade on campus, marking not only the 280th anniversary of the founding of Georgia by James Edward Oglethorpe, but also the founding of the city of Savannah.
"We have been studying James Oglethorpe, the original colonists, and how Georgia and Savannah were founded. We decided to dress as colonists and Native Americans today just to further our studies," said Polly Way, Hesse Elementary second grade teacher.
