A wreck on I-16 eastbound at the Ga. Hwy 119 exit/exit 137 right at the Bulloch/Bryan County line, had one of the eastbound lanes closed after reopening only an hour before due to clean-up from a different wreck that happened Wednesday night.
A black truck slammed into the back of a semi shortly before 7 a.m. Thursday. Two people from the truck had to be transported to the hospital, one by air. There is no word yet on the extent of their injuries.
Before the wreck at exit 137, Georgia State Troopers had to shut down the eastbound lanes on I-16 in Bulloch County Wednesday night and well into Thursday morning after two trucks were involved in a wreck shortly after 10 p.m. Wednesday.
One truck rear-ended another, lost control and ran into trees along the interstate. That truck was completely disabled and had a ruptured fuel tank.
No one was injured but cleanup efforts ran into the seventh hour before crews could reopen the stretch of road because everything had to be loaded off of the disabled truck before it could be moved.
The other truck had some axle damage and was able to be repaired at the scene.
Both wrecks have been cleared and all lanes on Interstate 16 are open.
