HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WTOC) -
A Hilton Head Island restaurant was recently named one of the Top 100 Most Romantic restaurants in the country.
The list was compiled using diners reviews submitted to the Open Table website. Three South Carolina restaurants made the list.
It is a gem, tucked away in a business park. Through the tinted glass can see the flickering candles.
"This is about art, music, love, passion, everything that we can possibly put together into one business," said Paul Colella, who owns the restaurant with his wife Lunonia.
The establishment is a dream come true for them both. "It started with our first date. Paul always wanted a restaurant and I as an art student at that point wanted a gallery and studio space. So we talked about it that night and every since then we worked towards it," Lunonia Colella said.
Eight years ago, The Studio - An Artistic Dining Experience was born. Lunonia Colella admits it took time to get the concept just right.
"Really getting to know the space and creating it to what we needed it be. Then it kind of all evolved. It is a living, breathing, ever changing space," she said.
The eatery features ambient lighting and offers international cuisine, live music, even artists creating paintings.
"We love each other so immensely and we try to convey that to our customers on a daily basis," Paul Colella said. The burning flames and art-adorned walls create an ambiance the owners hope feels like home.
"It's about sharing with them our lives. We put the same kind of passion and love into our business and into our arts as we do in our relationship and our own families and to have that acknowledged by Open Table customers was completely overwhelming," he said.
The Studio - An Artistic Dining Experience is located at 20 Executive Park Road is open Tuesday through Sunday for dinner only - starting at 5:30 p.m. Reservations are still available for Valentine's Day. Call 843.785.6000 for details.
