BULLOCH CO., GA (WTOC) -

Fire and rescue crews have freed a man and a rescuer trapped in a 40-foot tall grain bin.

It happened at a farm operation near the intersection of Georgia Hwy 46 and Jadith Deloach Road in Bulloch County.

Public Safety Director Ted Wynn told WTOC that David Averitt had fallen in and was trapped chest high in soybeans and it was acting similar to quicksand and shifting if he tried to move.

According to authorities, Daryl Colson, a rescue worker who was trying to get Averitt out also got stuck in the silo.

Statesboro and Bulloch County fire crews reached for the two men from the top of the bin and hoisted them to safety while simultaneously letting the soybeans out from the bottom of the silo.
