HINESVILLE, GA (WTOC) -

The public comment period is extended into next month for the Army's Programmatic Environmental Assessment for Army 2020 Force Structure Realignment.

The study examines effects of growth and reduction at Army installations. The study evaluates the impact of adding 3,000 personnel and reducing 8,000 personnel at Fort Stewart.

The Department of Defense has not made any decisions about growth, reduction, or maintaining the status quo at any army installation, according to a news release from the Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield Public Affairs Office.

The public comment period has been extended to March 21.
