Open enrollment for Savannah Derbytaunts ends Feb. 24

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Open enrollment for the Savannah Derbytaunts, a junior league derby team made up of girls ages 10 to 17, will end on Feb. 24. The team was formed in 2012 and they have been accepting members since.

Anyone interested in joining the Derbytaunts should attend the Meet-N-Greet at 2 p.m. Feb. 17 at the Garden City Gym. New comers will get the chance to skate with the girls, watch them practice and scrimmage.

The cost to attend the Meet-N-Greet is $20. Attendees will also receive an official Derbytaunt t-shirt. B&D Burgers will also provide refreshments during the event.

On Friday, parents lined the Pine Barren Road, trying to retrieve their kids. The middle school students were relocated to West Chatham Elementary School after a suspicious package was found at West Chatham Middle School.
