SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -
Young women in the community learn about future career opportunities. Saturday was Girls Engineer It! Day at Woodville Tompkins High School.
The event is designed to encourage young women to become more interested in careers in engineering and technology. Students got the chance to participate in three one hour activities with each activities geared towards different types of engineering.
In addition to the events for the girls there was also a section geared towards parents and teachers to help them learn how to keep students interested in these types of activities.
Whitney Holt says, "my favorite part is just seeing how excited the girls get. You see them light up and they love it. They don't really realize what engineering is, so just walking away with some key facts that they've learned through the day is really cool."
In addition to the events for the girls there was also a section geared towards parents and teachers to help them learn how to keep students interested in these types of activities.
