SSU helps keep Tybee tidy

Posted: Updated:

Savannah State University students, in partnership with the Tybee Beautification Association and the City of Tybee Island, will be hosting Spring Beach Sweeps.

Most marine debris starts on land and is transported by wind and rain to our waterways.  Keeping litter out of the waterways is important to the health of marine life, humans and our environment.

Volunteers will be meeting on the Pier and Pavilion Downtown Tybee Saturday, February 23 at 10 a.m. to obtain supplies and instructions.

The theme is "Tigers Keep Tybee Tidy" and students are encouraged to bring their community service forms.

For more information, contact Chantel Morton, Better Hometown Coordinator for City of Tybee Island, at 912-472-5071.
