Flood warning in effect for areas along Ogeechee River

CHATHAM CO., GA (WTOC) -

A flood warning remains in effect Monday and should continue well into the week for residents living along the Ogeechee River. 

The warning has been issued for the following areas: Chatham, Bryan, Effingham, Tattnall, Toombs and Appling counties. 

The National Weather Service reported as of 8 p.m. Sunday, the Ogeechee River had already passed its flood stage of 9 feet, and was at 9.6 feet. 

The river will continue to rise to near 11.2 feet by early Thursday afternoon with additional rises possible thereafter. 

Minor flooding is already occurring. At 12.0 feet, bottom floors of homes and businesses begin to flood and boat ramps and campgrounds are impacted.
