HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WTOC) -
The
Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting of a man injured
at a Hilton Head apartment complex on Sunday afternoon.
Deputies
responded at about 4:30 p.m. Sunday to Hilton Head Gardens at 11 Southwood Park
Dr. on reports of shots fired near a pond in the apartment complex, according
to the sheriff's office.
While
headed to the apartment complex, deputies were notified that a gunshot victim
had arrived at the Hilton Head Hospital emergency room.
Deputies
made contact with a 31-year-old Hardeeville man at the hospital, who was being
treated for several gunshot wounds. He said he and a friend went to the
apartments to visit a woman. As they were walking through the complex, they
heard gunshots behind them.
The
victim's friend, who was uninjured, took him to the hospital. They were unable to
provide any description of the possible shooters, and no motive has been
determined, according to the sheriff's office.
Investigators
have been unable to locate any cooperating witnesses.
The
victim has since been transferred to Savannah for more medical treatment. He
remains in stable, but serious condition.
