The new traffic light at 9th Street and Georgia Highway 21 is now fully operational.
It went live Tuesday, which was not too soon for some officers who have seen first hand how dangerous it was to pull onto the state road. While some think the light may slow things down on an already congested Ga. Hwy 21, Rincon police say just the opposite.
"It'll make things a lot more streamlined through there. It'll also slow down cars going on 21, which as we all know, if you slow down you actually get places quicker. So it will be easier getting off West 9th Street, which turns into Blue Jay, which is a main artery of this county." said Joshua Moseley of the Rincon Police Department.
It took about six months for the Georgia Department of Transportation to complete this project.
