Tybee to host coyote hazing workshop

Posted: Updated:
TYBEE ISLAND, GA (WTOC) -

Tybee Island has been battling a coyote problem for several months. City leaders are trying to educate the public about the animals.

So far, at least two coyotes have been killed on Tybee Island. One was shot on the beach.

Police still don't know who pulled the trigger. Just a few days ago, a driver ran over and killed one.

In January, WTOC reported that Tybee bought a $1,000 tranquilizer gun to take the coyotes humanely. Now, the city is trying a slightly different approach.

Tybee residents are concerned about the latest coyote problem on the island have the chance to attend a workshop Wednesday that will help educate the public on how to haze the animals.

Humane Society specialist Lindsey White Dasher will be there to explain the tactics to spook coyotes and help protect person property.

The workshop starts at 7 p.m. at the Tybee gym/YMCA.
