SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -
The Department of Agriculture has ordered the Savannah-Chatham Animal Control to make improvements in the concrete slabs under its dog kennels because the slabs contain seams that are hard to clean. Work begins Monday and the center will have to close a third of its 116 kennels at a time for several weeks, giving it less room to house dogs.
"Quite a lot of animals that we are not going to have enough space to hold on to for as long as we would like to so our goal is to get public awareness out there and that we too do adoptions. Come back and find a new friend and be able to get these guys some new homes," said Christina Suthern, Animal Control officer.
Visitation hours are from 1 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. Monday through Sunday.
