WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A Wilmington man was sentenced to 21 years in prison Thursday for drug trafficking, according to a news release from the U.S. Department of Justice.
John Thomas Vaughn, age 33, pled guilty to conspiring to possess with the intent to distribute and distributing more than 28 grams of cocaine base (crack), according to a news release.
On Aug. 12, 2010, Vaughn was traveling from Tabor City to Wilmington and was stopped by the Wilmington Police Department.
The detective found a quantity of cocaine in Vaughn's vehicle.
Throughout the investigation, it was revealed that Vaughn made numerous trips to South Carolina to pick up the cocaine and drug proceeds. He also participated in home invasions, stealing cocaine and drug proceeds.
Vaughn was primarily supplying crack cocaine in the Wilmington area.
