SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

On Thursday, students from Savannah State University packed the John F. Kennedy Fine Arts Center for the 62nd annual Southern Regional Press Institute.

WTOC Anchor Dawn Baker and News Director Jan Smith spoke at the event along with CNN correspondent Tory Dunnan and others.

"It really influenced me a lot. I'm into mass communication, my concentration is radio and television. It was really exciting and made me think I really need to get going and get interships and things like that." said Joi Fisher, Savannah State University junior.

The Southern Regional Press Institute will continue on Friday.
