Police arrested a man wanted in an assault that happened at a park in northeast Atlanta.

On Thursday, a mother, who wished to remain anonymous, spoke to CBS Atlanta news after the incident.

She claims she was assaulted while trying to defend her 3-year-old son's playmates against a man.

That man was later identified as 53-year-old Louis Rivera.

She and another mother took the group of children to the Old Fourth Ward Skate Park on Monday.

"There was a man there and he told them that they needed to find another place to play because his dogs were there first," she said.

The woman said she and another mother tried to talk to Rivera, but decided to get authorities involved.

She said as the other mother called police, and she started filming the man. That's when the man is seen, in video she took on her cell phone, shoving the phone out of her hand.

"Here, you want a really good close-up? I'm right here - take a good close-up," said the man, in the video.

According to Sgt. Greg Lyon with the Atlanta Police Department, an officer who knew Rivera brought him to the precinct to speak with investigators on Friday.

After the visit at the precinct Rivera was arrested. He is charged with simple battery.

The mother hopes he gets help.

"I really do think that you could see in the video that he got angry very quickly. He didn't mind me taking his picture to show the police - I think he just needs some counseling," she said. "The fact that people are allowed to carry guns into the park, it could have escalated into something worse. Also, there's really not very many places for dogs to exercise off leash."
