SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -
A
Brooklet couple was killed and three people were injured after a pickup truck
crossed the median and rolled over into a car on I-516 at 2:16 p.m. Friday
afternoon.
Stephen Carroll Joyner, 29, and
his wife, Camie Barnes Joyner, 31, died at the scene of the crash. Their
daughter, Dakota Joyner, 3, was transported to Memorial University Medical
Center for treatment of injuries she received in the crash. She is listed in
stable condition.
The driver of the pickup truck,
Trever Chase Cannon, 22, of Bloomingdale, is listed in serious but stable
condition.
Irven Williams, 47, a
motorcyclist who laid his cycle down to avoid the pickup truck, was treated at
the hospital at the hospital for injuries that he received from the fall.
Officers from the
Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department's Major Accident Investigation
Team said Cannon was driving eastbound at a high rate of speed and lost control
of the blue 2002 Ford F-250 pickup truck. The truck then entered the median and
overturned, rolling over the motorcycle and crashing into a westbound silver
2004 Toyota Rav 4 carrying the Joyner family.
I-516 was closed for most of Friday afternoon in both directions between Veterans Parkway and Montgomery Street.
MAIT officers are continuing to
investigate the wreck.
