The Ohio State Highway Patrol conducted a statewide enforcement initiative, known as Operation Shield Ohio, from Feb. 11 through Feb, 15, in an ongoing effort to remove the criminal element from Ohio's roadways.

This successful initiative resulted in 98 drug cases, including 42 felony cases.

Troopers seized:

-More than 39 pounds of cocaine

-More than 17 pounds of marijuana

-124 grams of heroin

-83 grams of crack cocaine

-1 gram of methamphetamine

-3,643 illegal prescription pills

-Two guns

Troopers also recovered two stolen vehicles.

"Successful enforcement efforts, like the most recent Operation Shield, illustrate the collective power of removing drugs and wanted felons from our communities," said Col. John Born, OSHP superintendent. "Ohio is in the midst of a drug abuse epidemic and it is important that we work together to solve this problem."

OSHP urges the public to call #677 to report drug activity.
