Heavy rain forecast raises flooding concerns

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A forecast for heavy rains this week is raising new concerns about flooding.

Forecasters say as much as 3.5 inches of rain could fall.

The National Weather Service issued a flood watch covering most of Georgia that runs from now through Tuesday evening. But the flood watch does not include coastal counties, so far.

School districts cancel classes 

Classes at Jeff Davis County schools were canceled on Monday due to the weather. 

Tattnall County and Wheeler County schools announced that classes will be canceled on Tuesday due to wet roads. Teachers are scheduled to report to school at 10 a.m.

Classes and activities are canceled Tuesday for Evans County schools and faculty. 

 

Pinewood has also cancelled school, but only for students. Faculty and staff are to be at school by 10 a.m.
