The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fire they're calling suspicious that destroyed a golf cart barn Friday night at a Bluffton golf course.
Firefighters and deputies responded at about 7:30 p.m. Friday to the Eagle's Pointe Golf Course. The structure was engulfed in flames.
A resident contacted 911 after seeing a small fire behind the building, according to the sheriff's office. The fire quickly spread and destroyed all 80 golf carts.
A golfer using the driving range told deputies that when he left at about 6:45 p.m., he didn't see any suspicious activity or sign of fire in the area. No employees are believed to have been at the course during the time the fire started, according to the BCSO.
There was no sign of any forced entry. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined at this time. The sheriff's office is asking anyone with information to contact either Investigator Cpl. W. Conant at 843-255-3424 or CrimeStoppers at 1.888.CRIME.SC (274-6372) or text the word TIPSC with a message to CRIMES (274637).
